Smiley Faces

Isn't it cool how smiley MSN faces -- can make you smile in real life?

Anyway....
Eminem's long awaited (?) return to the microphone came back in February with 'Crack a Bottle', and his attempt along with Dr Dre was a pretty decent (if self-loving) tune with a cheeky piano score and usual outspoken lyrics. Well now DiscoTech have come up with a remix for us to ponder - and, with a great admiration for Dre in mind, I have to think it's better. Laid back off-beats, and sweet-chilling electrolysis - particularly in the verse - have transformed this song and now it finds it's place up on my playlist :-

The nations favourite Fatboy has been busy after a period away, returning to bring us 'I Think We Gonna Need a Bigger Boat', although not releasing any singles from the album (as yet anyway). Norman has been Cooking up some good tunes, but all of them reminded me just how much I wanted 'Love Island' to get released - much to my disappointment. It builds up anticipation at the start with faded synth and slow violin, in comes the electro-bass and then the big beats - A chilled keyboard followed by exciting pulses of music-genius. A rarely heard Slim tune, totally unappreciated in it's time:-

What I've really really really been searching for since 'In for the Kill (Last Japan Scream Re-Edit)' is an EPIC! A bass-filled, over the top, rampaging tune to go totally nuts at. Nneka's remixed 'Heartbeat' (Chase and Status) is a decent effort - see the previous blog - but comes up just short for unkown reasons (not harrrd enough, maybe?). Jupiter One have had a 'Designer Drugs' makeover of their 'Countdown', and it's another decent attempt to blow my socks off. Unfortunatley, though, they remain held on by tethers so I am forced to ask the music world to try again, please! :-

And who doesn't love a video entirley of a t-shirt spouting 'Designer'...
